it had been since the dj qu remix of walt j that we did something on our subdivision petite. you know, this is where we like to re-release those forgotten pearls, with a new remix on the flip. this time we chose for >on and on< by italian-living-in-scandinavia raiders of the lost arp. in 2003 >on and on< appeared as the d2 track on his album >4<. but we thought this track is so great, it deserved a full a-side. on remix duties this time someone we have been wanting to work with since a long time, patrice scott. we have been following his sistrum label since the very first release, and he just never disappoints. neither does he this time.

alex and bill met 16 years ago when bill signed one of alex s first productions (is this the rhythm? by rhythmnvibe) to a new york label he was running. alex, whose father lives in the us, was a regular visitor to the states and they sent many happy hours together hanging out at the sound factory bar and comparing maw dubs. when bill returned to the uk in 1996, they had a few sessions together making house music, though neither of them can remember why they never finished anything or, indeed, what became of the tracks. fast forward a few years and they finally got back into the studio to make sweet music together under the moniker hotel motel. since then they have created a rich seam of work that some have already described as, like salvador dali with his pants down being fellated by deirdre barlow. few would disagree.

just like different fishes can be found in different grounds, also the acoustic tales of the micronaut take place in different regions of the emotional landscape: sometimes warm, sometimes fresh – sometimes calm and stagnant, sometimes lively and floating. and just like all the fishes are connected by the water surrounding them, also this album has its connecting element: a very individual and independent groove. this groove comes with a lot of surprises. for instance, when a guitar chord from the acoustic band atmosphere of gruen- dling suddenly gets tangled up in a loop and introduces an unexpected but coherent change into the direction of broken, electronic beats. or when the emotional world music elements of schleie mix up with exciting halfstep rhythms. sophi- sticated arrangements, unusual instrumentations and intense emotions- these are the main attributes of friedfisch . though the experimental character of this work does not really aim the dance floor, it still keeps connected to this place: two sensitive remixes by mollono.bass represent the upbeat for an entire series, being exclusively released on vinyl.

another epic seahawks voyage and this time theyre heading for the deep ocean of outer space. the results have been likened to the klfs chill out album performed by astroanuts. yep its that spacey but theres plenty of baked groove excursions along with the cosmic dinner jazz. imagine that instead of creating yah mo be there, michael mcdonald and james ingram hopped aboard a spaceship captained by sun ra and set the controls for alpha centauri. somewhere between the sea of tranquillity and the red heat of mars they find a party going on, klaus schulze is jamming with chic and peter frampton, kenny loggins is on bongos and the horn section from the doobie brothers are blowing soft and sweet but mike and jim have taken a whole lot of mind bending psychotropics and the music sounds like nothing theyve ever heard before. you are entering the seahawks universe, let your mind roam free. to ensure premium audio fidelity, the lp was mastered at abbey road and pressed at vinyl factory. as ever the artwork is beautiful and the edition is limited so get your skates on!
